After Invisalign: What’s Next?

After Invisalign: What’s Next?

As you near the end of your Invisalign treatment, chances are you’'ll been giving a little thought to what happens next. Here’s what to expect once your treatment is complete!

Teeth Whitening

Often Invisalign patients choose to whiten their teeth after their Invisalign treatment, to complete the look and highlight their straight new smiles!

If you’re interested in whitening your teeth, please make an appointment to discuss your options with your our team at Guildford Dental any time!

Retainers

After your Invisalign treatment is complete, the maintenance portion of your orthodontic treatment will begin. This primarily means one thing: a retainer.

After any type of orthodontic treatment including the straightening process, the teeth will not be as firmly set in the surrounding tissues as they once were. In order to keep them from shifting back out of position over time, you will have to wear a retainer.

You will probably have to wear your retainer full time at first, to give your teeth an opportunity to settle into their new positions. Over time, you will likely be able to downgrade to part-time retainer wear. This may include wearing them only on certain days in a week, or just at night.

Regular Dental Checkups

Naturally you’ll have to continue visiting your dentist regularly after Invisalign treatment is complete for cleanings and checkups, just like you always have. You won't need to attend the extra Invisalign-specific checkup appointments anymore, so while we will still be seeing you regularly, it won’t be as frequently.

A Straight, Beautiful Smile

The very best thing about being done with your Invisalign treatment will be the beautiful, straight smile you’ll have as a result! Congratulations!
